Hi Rob,

Many thanks and just have to tell you, our Quantum unit installed yesterday is absolutely a great success!

Over the last four quarters (07.05.2007 thru 08.05.2008) our household used 6,065 kWh from ACTEW and 2,616 (43.1%) of this was used for off-peak water heating. When I looked at our 250 L Rheem it turned out to be the original from when the house was built in August 1984, and clearly was due for replacement. After finding the Quantum heat pump on the web and its amazing specifications I was eager to sign up for a 250 L unit when I saw you on June 28; coincidentally the same day the newspapers reported an 8% increase in the price of electricity, probably the first of a new series of increases we will be seeing soon, and of course we all need to reduce our use of energy.

The installation was carried out yesterday (July 8), with no fuss, and the Quantum was turned on about 15:00, with the ambient temperature only about 12ºC. Now I thought, this is going to be a severe test; putting a solar water heater into operation in the coldest week of the year is surely going to show what it can or cannot do! I was due for a nice surprise - there was already a noticeable increase in temperature of the water coming through at 17:00 when I cleared the air pockets in the pipes, and by 19:00 there was already hot water on tap! Meanwhile the ambient temperature outside had fallen to 8ºC. At 21:30 my daughter had a bath, my wife had a shower at 22:00 and I had a shower at 23:00 and there was still plenty of hot water! All this time the unit purred away outside, making no more noise than a large refrigerator, and certainly less than the neighbour's reverse cycle air conditioner! This morning, with the outside temperature at about 1ºC, there was still plenty of hot water for my wife to have another shower, and I ran the dishwasher that I had been reluctant to use the night before. Already I count all this a great success!

I am certainly going to take quite an interest in the next couple of quarters' electricity bills!

Please feel free to use this report in your advertising, website news etc.

with best regards,

Ross
