Introduction

Quantum Energy is an Australian company using proprietary Australian developed technology to deliver the industry leading hot water heat pump.  Quantum Energy hot water heat pumps can be used in residential, light commercial and industrial applications.

System Research and Key Criteria

Horton Park is a luxurious 145 apartment, residential complex, located on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. When the architects and developers of the prestigious Horton Park Apartments came to the selection of a suitable hot water solution, they had several key criteria in mind.

Horton Park’s ideal design was for a centralised hot water system with ultraviolet sterilisation to provide lower running costs with “smart metering” to allow for  individual apartment billing.  They wanted low energy usage and low maintenance / service by virtue of a modular system setup. All of the above criteria was achieved using the Quantum Energy heat pumps.

Running Costs and Environmental Factors

Heating hot water accounts for up to 30% of the average homes energy bill.  This makes producing hot water the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the home. Installing a Quantum heat pump reduces the amount of greenhouse gas emissions and reduces the cost to produce hot water by up to 75% when compared to other hot water systems.

Recognised by the Australian Government “Office of Renewable Energy Regulator” for their energy efficiency, the Quantum Titan 340L hot water heat pumps also attract significant state subsidies and rebates in the form of Renewable Energy Certificates.

According to Scott Goulter; National Sales Manager Quantum Energy, “the Quantum units represent a unique solution which encompasses ecofriendliness, low operating cost and low maintenance requirement, as well as allowing for design freedom consistent with the high quality Horton Park development. There simply was no other choice when you stack up all the benefits”.

Results

Quantum Energy hot water heat pumps can be installed in new developments as well as retrofitted into existing developments. Scott Goulter states that "government rebates and subsidies apply to both scenarios and Quantum Energy has sophisticated software which can correctly size system demand. The software also determines calculations for both return on investment and estimated carbon abatement”

Conclusion

After consideration of many systems the Quantum Titan 340L hot water heat pumps were chosen.
